Hello, I’m Bethany. This vlog is about type 2 diabetes. There is a difference between type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.
Did you know that they are different? Type 1 diabetes typically affects young people. If you get type 1 diabetes, you are
stuck with it. It does not go away. Every day, people with type 1 diabetes must take insulin shots, and check their blood sugar level by pricking their finger
several times morning and night, and give insulin shots. Type 2 diabetes is different. People with type 2 diabetes are usually older,
who are not healthy, overweight, don’t eat healthy foods, smoke, or don’t exercise.
They may get type 2 diabetes. Did you know that you can prevent type 2 diabetes? If you have type 2 diabetes, but take care of your body,
exercise and eat healthy, it is possible to cure diabetes. It’s important to know that type 1 and type 2 diabetes are different.
This vlog will focus on type 2 diabetes. So, what does type 2 diabetes mean? It means that your body is not working
properly, and health problems show up. Every day when you eat, your body turns food into energy to work. If you have type 2 diabetes, it is hard for your body to use energy. Your cells need energy (sugar). A normal body has cells that can turn sugar into energy
with no problem and your body functions properly. With type 2 diabetes, your cells can’t get any energy. Your body is
sluggish, and you feel tired because your body doesn’t work properly. So where is the sugar (energy) stuck? In your bloodstream. People with normal bodies without type 2 diabetes still have
sugar in the blood. A little bit is normal. This is fine. But people with type 2 diabetes have too much sugar

will cause your body to become worse, break down, and be damaged. For example, your eyes and vision can be impacted by type 2 diabetes. If you have type 2 diabetes and you keep overeating and
skipping exercise, your eyesight may become worse. It’s also possible your kidneys will break down, become bad,
and you will have to take medicine to take care of them. Your feet may also become tingly and numb,
which can be bothersome. With type 2 diabetes, you are at higher risk for a

Your cholesterol may also increase. Sometimes if people have awful diabetes and don’t take care of their
bodies, their legs have to be cut off and they may need a wheelchair. Diabetes is very serious. It is not fun at all. It’s very
important to take care of your body and your health. For a long time, people with type 2 diabetes were older adults
but understand, now that’s changed. It’s different. Now, people with type 2 diabetes affect people who are
not healthy, are overweight and have a lot of body fat, people who do not exercise, or don’t eat healthy
but eat a lot of soda and junk food. Type 2 diabetes is dangerous, so it’s
important to take care of yourself. Before, type 2 diabetes was not common, but now
so many more people have type 2 diabetes. If you want to know if you have diabetes, or if you don’t have diabetes but want to know if your
sugar levels are increasing and you are at risk for diabetes, you can contact your doctor for a finger-stick blood test. Remember, you can prevent type 2 diabetes. If you take care of your body by eating a
healthy diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy like milk,
cheese, and yogurt, every day, exercise regularly, don’t smoke, and
limit how much alcohol you drink, and you take care of your body, then it is
possible to prevent and avoid type 2 diabetes. If you are overweight it’s possible that…
