Take Care of Yourself & Your Diabetes Management

Hey guys! Have you or the diabetic in
your life caught yourself saying, “I have diabetes
so it’s normal that I am tired and cranky all the time. It’s normal that I
can’t sleep, I feel restless. I have aches in my legs and I get up to
use the restroom all the time. It’s normal that I have burning, numbness pain
in my feet or in my toes, I have diabetes. This is just the burden to bear with
this disease.” I want to remind you in case you haven’t heard this recently, that doesn’t have to be the case. Know that those symptoms are signs
of persistent high blood sugar that could potentially be causing serious
nerve damage, that would not be reversible but you can act now by going
to see your doctor, talking to your medical professional, whoever has been
assisting you with your diabetes management and saying, “Look I’m having
these symptoms I know they’re a sign of something more significant going on in
my body and I want to change it!” And be honest about your diabetes management. Be
honest about what you’re doing right and what you’re struggling with and make
changes with your doctor to your medication, to your diet, to your habits
whatever it is so that you will see improvement and that so you won’t have
to deal with those symptoms because it’s not normal and you shouldn’t have to
live that way. Yes occasionally you will have high blood sugar that you can’t
seem to control, whether it’s stress or illness or what’s causing it and you say, “Gosh, I’m lethargic I feel awful today.” All diabetics will have those days but
it doesn’t have to be every day. You can live a full life with relatively no
limits but you’re really gonna have to be persistent about your diabetes
management. You’re gonna have to be proactive and you’re gonna have to be
honest about what you’re doing right and what you feel like you’re doing wrong
and you will eliminate those symptoms. We’ve seen it happen before and so go
talk to your doctor. Please be honest about your sleep, your energy level, your
pain and don’t put a band-aid on it. Don’t seek out ice packs or creams to cool and
soothe your feet but actually solve the underlying issue what’s causing those
problems and you will feel so much better, and sleep better and live better! And I know you can do it. We’re thinking about
you and we have all the faith in the world! You guys, take care and we’ll see
you next week.
