How to Make a 3D Heart – Paper, Card and Foam

Today, I’m gonna show you how to make
these really sweet 3D hearts. You can make them out of paper, card, or even foam,
which I’ll show you later. I’ll start by taking a thin piece of card, and we need
to draw on a heart. If you like, you could use a cookie cutter to draw around, but
I’ve made my own templates so I can cut out as many as I like. I’ll give you a
copy of the templates at the end of the video. Draw on your heart shape, then use a pair of scissors to carefully
cut it out. We need our heart shapes to be quite wide
in style (not long and pointy like this one), otherwise it doesn’t really work properly. Next, we need to use a pair of scissors to cut a line
from the top straight down, just under halfway. Then, we need to gently curl the heart
back on itself without creasing a line. Then, use a stapler to pin each half together like this. Next, we need to hold the staple
firmly and peel the heart back on itself to turn it inside out and make it stand
out. Try and tidy up any crease marks, and
that’s our 3D heart complete! Pretty cool, huh? They look really effective, and they’re
really simple to make. You can make a whole load of different sizes and even
different colors. I found they look best if you make them out of this thin foam
instead of paper or card, and they’re easier too. The process is exactly the same:
Draw around the template and cut out the heart. If you are using a cookie cutter, you can just push it into the foam to give yourself an outline. Then, cut it out, make your slice down from the top, then fix it in place with your stapler. Fold it back on itself, and you can really curve the foam to give it some shape I also found they make these foam sheets
with glitter in, so you can make some with those. this foam sheet is actually
self-adhesive, and it’s got a paper backing I can remove if I want to stick
it to something. As well as the red glitter foam, I also
found pink, and they really stand out. You could use these on the front of a
homemade Valentine’s Day card, you might want to make some bunting or a banner
with them, or use them to decorate your space, or surprise someone else. You
could spread some over a desk or stick some on a wall or a mirror If you want to use the heart template I
used, you can take a copy of these and print them out. I hope you’ve enjoyed
