Don’t Flush Us Medications – Unflushables

– The modern medicine cabinet has brought the power of the pharmacy
into our own bathrooms. But what do you do with expired
or unwanted medications? You might think an easy
way to get rid of them would be to flush them down the toilet. But with 2.4 million
people in metro Vancouver, that adds up to a lot of
medication down the drain. Our treatment plants are not
designed to remove pills, tablets or capsules, so
medication put down the toilet may end up in our waterways. This can be harmful to
fish and plant life. Don’t flush us, you can
take old medications to a pharmacy near you for safe disposal.
