Chrissy’s Story: Living life with a big heart

I now have an artificial heart that
pumps blood to my body, I like to call it a mechanical heart and I call myself
Christine 2.0. So this is the Bionic Christine. I was six months pregnant with
my daughter her name was Maya and I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
I gave birth to my daughter, but she died a few moments later. This disease and
poor health doesn’t only affect the person that’s suffering,
it’s a family, the family is suffering too. I would say my deepest fear is not
being able to watch my kids grow. My children are great support, but they
worry a lot. I want them to know that when they’re not with me that I’m okay
and that’s why I wear my MedicAlert bracelet because it gives us both a
sense of safety and they know that I’m protected when I’m alone. Love is the most important thing in the
world. I love my kids, I love the people I help, I love life. Love comes from the heart. I have a big big heart so big that it can
explode.
